The New I Ching is far more than just a method of providing answers to questions that you may have. That is useful for sure, but what we have here is a conduit or means of communication with a “deeper” you or, if you like, your core fundamental spirit which so often gets masked by the worries and anxieties of our lives: our obsessions, problems, aspirations and regrets. If the answer you get to a question you asked is completely “in tune” and obviously correct in the circumstances that you find yourself, then you are forced to then ask another question: “How did me throwing three coins produce such an answer – what force or power is at work here?” That force is you or, if you like, the greater you! This then is the start of a new process of self discovery and you can read more about this process in the website starting with: HOW ANSWERS ARE GENERATED.
How many different answers are there?
The entire combination of different answers is 4,096 since some answers that you get are a combination of two different answers, indicating a future development or “backgrounder” to your original answer. There are 64 main “basic” answers.
I heard someone say that the I Ching is the work of the devil.
People are sometimes frightened of things that they don’t understand, but such a statement is like saying that YOU are the work of the devil. All the New I Ching does is to provide a link to the real or “core” you that exists and is in no way anti God or anti-anything. It is, in fact, pro life, pro understanding and pro truth.
What if my answer is wrong?
We sometimes get answers that seem to have no connection to the question that we originally asked, but that doesn’t mean to say that your answer is wrong at all. Please read UNDERSTANDING YOUR ANSWER on the website.
What if I get the same answer to two different questions?
This sometimes happens but then the answer takes on a different “flavor” or meaning according to the context. As a simple example, if you are told that it is going to rain then this can be depressing news if you planned an outside trip to the beach or a trek in the countryside, but a farmer thinking of his crops would most probably be extremely happy indeed.
How did I get to this site – did God lead me?
If you follow your instincts then they normally lead you in the right direction, but if you ignore them then sometimes circumstances align themselves to create a situation that gives you a push in the right direction. This push is often called a coincidence, however as you will begin to discover as you go through this website, all things are connected and nothing happens by accident. Was it God that led you? One thing is for certain, that the aspect within you that is the real or fundamental you was at work here and, on that level, you are then connected with the universal energy that flows through all life. Some would name this energy God. So it shall be, but names are not important here – awareness is.
How is the New I Ching connected to Taoism. Is it religious?
It isn’t religious, but it is connected to Taoism in that its overall philosophy mirrors the fundamental philosophy behind Taoism which embraces a recognition of the profound unity of the universe and of the path human beings must take to join, rather than disturb, that unity.
What can this site do for me?
Hermann Hesse, a Nobel Prize winning writer stated that the I Ching can change life. It can. What this website will do is show you, sometimes in a very direct way, how you may have been deluding yourself or, perhaps, what you should be doing instead of what you actually are doing. In this way you move forward in a far better way than you were before. It’s a bit like having an older, wiser sibling who knows you better than you know yourself and to whom you can go to when you need advice.
You mention that the I Ching is a magic book. Are you sure?
There is no such thing as magic, just circumstances that we don’t properly understand. I used the word “magic” because it indicated the perception that many people had before when confronted with an oracle that could give them answers in such a way that it seems to know them intimately. This is a characteristic of the I Ching which is quite fascinating of course and when you experience it yourself you are then forced to ask the question: HOW does it know me? This is a very valid question. Please read HOW ANSWERS ARE GENERATED.
So what’s so new about the New I Ching?
The roots are the same, however the New I Ching is a hybrid that takes the essence and core philosophy of the original I Ching and presents it in an entirely new way. In a process that took over twenty five years, I have adapted, reconfigured and represented the original in an entirely new and innovative format that is better equipped to deal with the various concerns that occur in our lives today – a completely different environment to that of Ancient China 5,000 years ago.
How Many Questions can I ask the New I Ching?
How many questions do you NEED to ask? Remember, this is not a game and needs to be taken seriously. Only ask questions if you really don’t know the answer and it is important that you do. To mindlessly ask questions all the time will not work. Please read ABOUT ASKING QUESTION.
